Break-In Period

Start wearing your Stabilizing Orthotics

1. Insert your Stabilizing Orthotics.

  • Remove the manufacturer's lining in the shoes before inserting your Stabilzing Orthotics.
  • Hold your Stabilizing Orthotics up to the shoe's lining and, if necessary, trim the extra length from only the TOE AREA of Stabilizing Orthotics. Do NOT trim the heel or side area of Stabilizing Orthotics.
  • Put your Stabilizing Orthotics, printed side up, into the shoes. The heel of the orthotic should fit back against the heel of the shoe.

2. Wear your Stabilizing Orthotics every time you wear shoes, and wear them in the style of shoe for which they were designed. If your Stabilizing Orthotics don't seem to fit properly in your shoes, ask your healthcare professional. You may be using them in the wrong shoe style, or your shoe may be the wrong size.

3. Start by wearing your Stabilizing Orthotics 3 hours per day for the first few days, then gradually increase 1 hour per day. You may experience some mild discomfort in the beginning as your body gets adjusted to the new supports--this is natural and will get better soon.  This may take 2-3 weeks. Our products are individually designed to your specifications and require a 45-day break-in period.

NOTE: It is important to break in your Stabilizing Orthotics before returning them to us for a re-fit. To give the best fit possible in a re-fit, we get the best information from seeing the actual wear pattern on the Stabilizing Orthotics (along with a list of your symptoms).
