Junior Achievement of Southwest Virginia to Induct Kent S. Greenawalt, Foot Levelers Chairman and CEO, Into Its Business Hall of Fame

Organization Pays Special Tribute to Greenawalt for His “Significant Contributions to the Southwest Virginia Region”

ROANOKE, VIRGINIA—November 1, 2016—Junior Achievement of Southwest Virginia has selected Foot Levelers’ CEO Kent S. Greenawalt as a 2016 Business Hall of Fame inductee. The occasion is marked by a special awards dinner on November 1st, 2016, at the Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, Virginia, Foot Levelers’ hometown since 1988. The induction recognizes Greenawalt’s achievements as a successful business leader, including his “significant contributions to the Southwest Virginia region” and to “free enterprise and society” in the region. Foot Levelers, a 64-year-old company founded in Dubuque, Iowa, relocated to Roanoke in 1988 and has played an active role ever since as one of the area’s larger employers and a sponsor of numerous charitable events, including the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon.

Mr. Greenawalt is one of two 2016 Laureates; he is joined by developer Ronald L. Willard, CEO of The Willard Companies. The event will also pay tribute to Robert Kulp, Jr. and Mike Whiteside of Black Dog Salvage, an architectural salvage business located in Roanoke. Proceeds from this dinner and awards ceremony benefit Junior Achievement of Southwest Virginia's K-12 educational programs.

“I am deeply grateful to Junior Achievement of Southwest Virginia for this generous recognition,” said Greenawalt. “This event is a capstone in my decades long involvement with J.A., to whom I owe so much. I joined J.A. in high school and have been putting to use the lessons I learned from their caring instructors and mentors ever since.”
