Healthcare technology has dramatically advanced and plays a pivotal role in Chiropractic care. Foot Levelers is more than “just” custom orthotics; we’re a technology company, too. Most of the doctors we work with use our proprietary 3D scanning technology to capture images of patients’ feet.
Your time on digital devices can hurt your health – addressing tech neck with custom orthotics will help
These days, cell phones are used for much more than just making calls. They’re multi-tasking tools used in place of watches, alarm clocks and maps. Are you among the 63% of Americans who keeps their cellphones within arm’s reach at all times, and checks them hourly (or more)?1 Handheld digital devices like cell phones sure make life a lot more convenient. But the way we use them can cause undue stress on our bodies. Over time, that stress can lead to pain and increase your risk for a neck injury.read more
When you’re seeking out the best orthotics, whether you’re a healthcare provider looking for a reliable orthotics supplier, or a patient looking for pain relief, Foot Levelers is your best option. Let’s explore some of those reasons.
More than half of the entire world population is a Facebook user today, according to HootSuite. Facebook and its sister company Instagram are two of the leading social media platforms that can provide endless potential (and revenue) for business owners including chiropractors. These two networks are now our first stop for news, entertainment, communication, and purchasing. It’s no wonder that being an influencer is now a full-time career that can amass more than six figures a year. But as a chiropractor, you also have a major influence and strategically leveraging that on social media can help maintain and grow your practice. Here are some tips to help you.read more

ROANOKE, VA—September 18, 2017—Celebrating 65 years of serving Chiropractic, Foot Levelers has introduced its latest advancement, the single-foot Kiosk. This revolutionary scanning device is designed to help healthcare providers save time, ensure all patients are scanned for orthotics, and increase referrals to their practice.
Patients Scan Themselves, Orthotic Usage Increases: Statistics prove that the Foot Levelers Kiosk helps doctors increase the number of patients they fit for custom orthotics, which leads to better patient results. Ideal for placement in a practice’s reception area, the Kiosk allows patients to scan themselves, before the doctor’s exam even begins. This saves staff time, allowing them to spend more time reviewing the comprehensive Report of Findings with each patient.
Shareable Report of Findings, Increase Referrals: The Foot Levelers single-foot Kiosk offers two Reports of Findings. The most comprehensive is the doctor’s version, which should be reviewed with every patient.
But new to the Kiosk software is a Report of Findings that is emailed to each patient, before they even step off the scanner. This new report is shareable on several social media platforms. When the report is shared with friends and family, referrals to the practice increase.
Invitation to Foot Levelers Practice Xcelerator: With each single-foot Kiosk comes an invitation to one of Foot Levelers’ FREE Practice Xcelerator events. The Practice Xcelerator is an extensive, half-day training session that focuses on improving outcomes through increased orthotic usage.
The new, single-foot scanning Kiosk is part of an ongoing story of growth for the 65-year-old company. Started as a small, family business in Dubuque, Iowa in 1952, today Foot Levelers serves thousands of providers and millions of patients in over 85 countries. In 2014, Foot Levelers opened an office in Sydney, Australia, followed by a second in Belgrade, Serbia in 2016. Foot Levelers has long been the leader in orthotics for Chiropractic patients, with an expanding presence in Physical Therapy, Podiatry, Family Medicine, Massage Therapy, and Acupuncture, among other health disciplines.
In September, the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation published a watershed studyproving that Foot Levelers custom orthotics,
particularly in conjunction with Chiropractic care, significantly reduce Low Back Pain (LBP)—by 40.4 percent. This study is critically important because the National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports 80 percent of adults experience LBP. LBP is the single leading cause of disability worldwide, with many patients taking dangerous opioids for relief. “Foot Levelers and Chiropractic can make a difference in the opioid crisis,” says Kent S. Greenawalt, Foot Levelers CEO.

Just a few pics of the team at DC2017, the 14th WFC Biennial Congress in the historic Washington Hilton, March 15th-18th. We were excited to meet with Chiropractors from all over the world plus learn about the latest and greatest in the profession. Speaking of latest and greatest (if we DO say so ourselves) — we showed off our new Kiosk!
For the first time, the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC), and the Association for Chiropractic Colleges (ACC) joined forces to present a world-class Chiropractic program featuring the latest in scientific research, global perspectives on the future of the profession, and inspirational sessions delivered by the profession’s thought leaders and content experts.
On March 14th at the National Press Club, our CEO Kent S. Greenawalt delivered opening remarks at the official launch event for the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress‘s “Save Lives. Stop Opioid Abuse. Choose Chiropractic” campaign. Chiropractic, Kent argues, can lead the charge in reversing America’s ongoing opioid epidemic with its staggering implications on communities, families and the American healthcare system.

Check out this new Athletic TIPS from Dr. Pat Kennedy: “Treating Excessive Pronation in Football Players.” By some estimates, 77% of the population over-pronates–that’s 3 out of 4 adults! –making the entire body more susceptible to injury and disease (not just the feet). In a game as rough as football, it’s essential that athletes who over-pronate get treatment, and Chiropractic care + custom-made orthotics offer research-proven results.
(…But you don’t have to take our word for it. Just ask the NFL!)
Want to learn more about pronation? You can dig a little deeper into the topic here.

Considering custom orthotics? Maybe your Chiropractor recommended custom orthotics to help treat a painful condition, like low back pain, knee pain or plantar fasciitis. Or perhaps you’re an athlete who wants to improve your performance on the field while protecting yourself from injury. Head to toe (and everywhere in between), research shows that the feet play a critical role in whole-body wellness. Custom orthotics can help keep them balanced and healthy.
But you may be wondering to yourself: why is custom such a big deal when it comes to orthotics? After all, generic, off-the-shelf inserts are cheaper, and they’re everywhere, lining the shelves of a number of pharmacies, super stores, even some grocery stores. Their bright and flashy packaging promises the world: “Get relief from runner’s knee!” “Soothe arthritis pain!” “Helps with low back pain!”
If all that’s true… Why not go for the cheap and easy fix?
What is the big deal about custom anyway?
We’re so glad you asked!
Let’s start with the basics: Your feet are just as unique as your fingerprints. That means your size 9 feet are not the same as your neighbor’s size 9 feet (in fact, if you’re like most people, there are even significant differences between your right foot and left!).
Generic, over-the-counter “orthotics” ignore this crucial fact.
Because they’re mass-produced, they can only address only general conditions, for “general feet,” as if such a thing exists. They can’t account for differences between your right and left foot, and they certainly can’t include read more
Check out this news from the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP): a recent Gallup Poll states an estimated 33.6 million U.S. adults (14 percent) saw a Chiropractor within the last 12 months – that’s big jump from the roughly 20.6 million reported in a previous study.
Why the growth? Experts at the F4CP say the Americans are becoming more confident in the profession. (Hat tip to the foundation folks–they work tirelessly to get the word out about the benefits of Chiropractic. We’re proud that it was founded by our CEO and Chairman, and includes Chiropractic leaders from all over the country. You can learn more about the foundation here).
The research also showed that 51 percent of U.S. adults had seen a Chiropractor during their lifetime–but that unfortunately, misconceptions remain. The majority of people don’t know that Doctors of Chiropractic must complete a minimum of seven years of college education, for example, which includes clinical patient management. Or that aspiring DCs must also pass rigorous national and state boards.
In reflecting on the study, executive VP for F4CP Dr. Sherry McAllister said: “We are addressing the information gap that may be preventing individuals from seeking Chiropractic care, and reaffirming the message that care provided by a DC is not only safe and affordable, but also covered by most insurance plans. Americans can trust their Chiropractors to successfully address their health concerns without the use of drugs.”
Have you visited your DC lately? From high blood pressure to sports performance to headaches and back pain, Chiropractic can help. Don’t have a Chiropractor yet? Find one near you here.
Some people suffer knee pain so acutely, they’re ready to jump on the surgical table for a total knee replacement. While this option can work, conservative care may be just as effective at relief–plus less costly, less dangerous, and requiring little to no “down time.”
That’s what a recent study covered in Reuters Health
found: that “while 85 percent of patients who underwent surgery showed clinically-significant improvement after one year, so did 67 percent assigned to a combination of supervised exercise, use of insoles, pain medication, education and dietary advice.” read more
Let’s face it. No one wears the same shoes all the time, because there’s more to life than just the office or gym. In fact, the average American owns an average of 19 pairs of shoes at any given time!
We challenged our employees to get out their shoes, count ’em, and take a picture. (Our “winner” so far on number of pairs owned is Corrie, 125 pairs of shoes!)
How many pairs do you THINK you have? And how many do you ACTUALLY have?
Answer the first question in your head, and then take a moment to do an actual count. You’ll be surprised.
To optimize the health benefits of custom orthotics, you should be supported with every step, during every activity. Make sure you have multiple pairs of orthotics for your multiple pairs of shoes. Your feet and body will thank you!
