Healthcare technology has dramatically advanced and plays a pivotal role in Chiropractic care. Foot Levelers is more than “just” custom orthotics; we’re a technology company, too. Most of the doctors we work with use our proprietary 3D scanning technology to capture images of patients’ feet.
Do you suffer from foot, knee, hip, or back pain? Medical conditions or structural abnormalities elsewhere in the body may be responsible. While medical therapies can help to mask the pain and address the symptoms, custom orthotics may be able to correct the underlying cause.
Individuals with overpronation, over-supination, plantar fasciitis, leg length differences, and numerous other conditions can benefit from arch support insoles customized to their particular foot shape and complaint. Arch support inserts also provide cushioning and stability while, at the same time, distributing the pressure on your feet more evenly.read more
As breakthroughs are made in science and medical technologies, the onus falls on the innovators to translate those breakthroughs into practical products that can benefit patients.
Fresh, new ideas are the backbone of effective treatments, and today’s cutting-edge idea could very well be tomorrow’s dominant technology. All it takes is an understanding of the research, a little creativity, and the willingness to take a leap of faith toward a promising concept.
This is exactly the case with Foot Levelers’ new InMotion+™ custom orthotics. They incorporate numerous proven features to provide patients with the foundation they need to live their fullest, most active lives possible, and they complement those reputable attributes with new, extremely promising technologies.read more
Orthotic insoles offer essential support and pain relief for individuals suffering from foot and ankle conditions. But with so many types of insoles available, choosing the best ones for you can be tricky. Read on to learn more about what the right custom orthotics can do for you.
What Are Orthotic Insoles and What Do They Do?
Foot orthotics are also sometimes called “arch supports” or simply “orthotics.” They can be made of different materials and vary in quality. However, their purpose remains the same: orthotic insoles are designed to support your feet and ankles so that you can stay active without experiencing pain and discomfort. Orthotics guide your foot in maintaining natural and healthy motion and can prevent over-pronation or over-supination.read more

As chiropractors, many of you have embraced the latest state-of-the-art technologies in your practice that may include EHR software, cold lasers, massage guns, adjusting instruments, etc. There seems to always be some new gadget or gimmick out there that tries to hit us emotionally to make us purchase it. It’s crucial to know if a new piece of technology will be helpful and boost the success of our practice.
When Foot Levelers introduced the world’s first chiropractic foot scanner back in 2001, I was excited to learn about it and adopt it. Personally, I always gravitate towards new technology because it leads us into the future and keeps us on the cutting edge of knowledge. That original FAS SCAN was just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the digital scanning technology that would follow in the years to come. Foot Levelers introduced the 3D Kiosk in 2017 and they have continued to enhance it.read more
Orthotics for shoes and inserts should not be confused with one another, as there are some crucial differences. Unlike inserts, Foot Levelers orthotics are custom-made for your body and feet, based on scans and doctor exams. Orthotics can manage foot disorders and posture problems, and they generally last much longer-lasting than insoles.
Over-the-counter insoles are available in stores and pharmacies. They are made from gel, foam, and other materials, and these insoles can provide good shock absorption and cushion. However, inserts cannot treat or prevent foot disorders, such as over-pronation or alignment issues. Moreover, since inserts are not custom-made for your specific feet, wearing them could cause pain and discomfort over time.read more
It’s a marvel how little patients understand about the bodies they inhabit. In the healthcare arena, pain and discomfort are big factors for going to the typical medical doctor. Most patients have been trained to seek this type of healthcare practitioner from their early days of going to the pediatrician and then to their adult GP. It comes as no surprise to us that patients become frustrated when they are told to take medication, give it 4-6 weeks of rest, or get referred for therapy and exercises that don’t work as well as the patient hopes. They feel like they are spinning their wheels.read more
Your time on digital devices can hurt your health – addressing tech neck with custom orthotics will help
These days, cell phones are used for much more than just making calls. They’re multi-tasking tools used in place of watches, alarm clocks and maps. Are you among the 63% of Americans who keeps their cellphones within arm’s reach at all times, and checks them hourly (or more)?1 Handheld digital devices like cell phones sure make life a lot more convenient. But the way we use them can cause undue stress on our bodies. Over time, that stress can lead to pain and increase your risk for a neck injury.read more

More than half of the entire world population is a Facebook user today, according to HootSuite. Facebook and its sister company Instagram are two of the leading social media platforms that can provide endless potential (and revenue) for business owners including chiropractors. These two networks are now our first stop for news, entertainment, communication, and purchasing. It’s no wonder that being an influencer is now a full-time career that can amass more than six figures a year. But as a chiropractor, you also have a major influence and strategically leveraging that on social media can help maintain and grow your practice. Here are some tips to help you.read more
Foot Levelers is more than “just” custom orthotics; we’re a technology company, too. Most of the doctors we work with use our proprietary 3D scanning technology to capture images of patients’ feet; these images are instantaneously sent through the magical interwebs to our lab in Roanoke, Virginia. These are the “blueprints” for building patients’ custom orthotics. read more
ROANOKE, VA—September 18, 2017—Celebrating 65 years of serving Chiropractic, Foot Levelers has introduced its latest advancement, the single-foot Kiosk. This revolutionary scanning device is designed to help healthcare providers save time, ensure all patients are scanned for orthotics, and increase referrals to their practice.
Patients Scan Themselves, Orthotic Usage Increases: Statistics prove that the Foot Levelers Kiosk helps doctors increase the number of patients they fit for custom orthotics, which leads to better patient results. Ideal for placement in a practice’s reception area, the Kiosk allows patients to scan themselves, before the doctor’s exam even begins. This saves staff time, allowing them to spend more time reviewing the comprehensive Report of Findings with each patient.
Shareable Report of Findings, Increase Referrals: The Foot Levelers single-foot Kiosk offers two Reports of Findings. The most comprehensive is the doctor’s version, which should be reviewed with every patient.
But new to the Kiosk software is a Report of Findings that is emailed to each patient, before they even step off the scanner. This new report is shareable on several social media platforms. When the report is shared with friends and family, referrals to the practice increase.
Invitation to Foot Levelers Practice Xcelerator: With each single-foot Kiosk comes an invitation to one of Foot Levelers’ FREE Practice Xcelerator events. The Practice Xcelerator is an extensive, half-day training session that focuses on improving outcomes through increased orthotic usage.
The new, single-foot scanning Kiosk is part of an ongoing story of growth for the 65-year-old company. Started as a small, family business in Dubuque, Iowa in 1952, today Foot Levelers serves thousands of providers and millions of patients in over 85 countries. In 2014, Foot Levelers opened an office in Sydney, Australia, followed by a second in Belgrade, Serbia in 2016. Foot Levelers has long been the leader in orthotics for Chiropractic patients, with an expanding presence in Physical Therapy, Podiatry, Family Medicine, Massage Therapy, and Acupuncture, among other health disciplines.
In September, the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation published a watershed studyproving that Foot Levelers custom orthotics,
particularly in conjunction with Chiropractic care, significantly reduce Low Back Pain (LBP)—by 40.4 percent. This study is critically important because the National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports 80 percent of adults experience LBP. LBP is the single leading cause of disability worldwide, with many patients taking dangerous opioids for relief. “Foot Levelers and Chiropractic can make a difference in the opioid crisis,” says Kent S. Greenawalt, Foot Levelers CEO.

Just a few pics of the team at DC2017, the 14th WFC Biennial Congress in the historic Washington Hilton, March 15th-18th. For the first time, the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC), and the Association for Chiropractic Colleges (ACC) joined forces to present a world-class Chiropractic program featuring the latest in scientific research, global perspectives on the future of the profession, and inspirational sessions delivered by the profession’s thought leaders and content experts.
On March 14th at the National Press Club, our CEO Kent S. Greenawalt delivered opening remarks at the official launch event for the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress‘s “Save Lives. Stop Opioid Abuse. Choose Chiropractic” campaign. Chiropractic, Kent argues, can lead the charge in reversing America’s ongoing opioid epidemic with its staggering implications on communities, families and the American healthcare system.

Check out this new Athletic TIPS from Dr. Pat Kennedy: “Treating Excessive Pronation in Football Players.” By some estimates, 77% of the population over-pronates–that’s 3 out of 4 adults! –making the entire body more susceptible to injury and disease (not just the feet). In a game as rough as football, it’s essential that athletes who over-pronate get treatment, and Chiropractic care + custom-made orthotics offer research-proven results.
(…But you don’t have to take our word for it. Just ask the NFL!)
